The Santa Monicans for Renters' Rights (SMRR) Convention will be held on August 3, 2014 at 1pm in the cafeteria of John Adams Middle School. This is an important convention due to the fact that members will be voting on SMRR endorsements for City Council, Rent Control Board, School Board, and College Board. I am up for re-election to the College Board, and I really do need you to come to the SMRR convention and vote for me. I am the only African American and the only member who has children attending SMC on the Board and strongly believe my cultural background, expertise and experience is needed on the Board.
Please mark your calendar for this upcoming Sunday, August 3 and come out and vote for me. I also encourage you to vote for the other three SMC incumbent trustees - Nancy Greenstein, Louise Jaffee, and Andrew Walzer. Together, we are devoted and solely committed to serving our students and our community.
Here's what David Finkel, Retired Judge and former Santa MonicaCollege Board Trustee says:
This will be a contested election as there are challengers seeking to unseat the SMC incumbents. So, please, Keep Santa Monica College Strong! Come to the SMRR Convention and vote for proven leadership that is principled, progressive and effective. Vote to re-elect Barry Snell, Nancy Greenstein, Louise Jaffe and Andrew Walzer.
